Assassin's Creed's Graphics are awesome if your system has the proper hardware!

If not, your time spent in game, will likely resemble playing with a fat turd floating magically through the air in slow motion. In order to achieve the experience of being a cold blooded ruthless patriot nobody can stop, your going to need the latest from Nvidia or ATI.

The audio experience is also good. The ambiance of the crowd's familiar hums and buzzes becomes rather calming. Unless your audio card is integrated into your mother board you should have no need to upgrade. However newer sound cards from Creative which use the pci-e slot may be able to raise your frame rates slightly.

As far as controls are concerned the X Box controller is my personal favorite. While the keyboard and mouse combo are usable, they are simply not ideal. Bite the bullet and buy one to get the most of out the next generation of console ports creeping onto the PC.

Game pad's are another possible option, I had some success with a Zboard game fang. Unless you plan to play lot's of console ports you will get much more use out of a good pad than a controller. It's much faster to map combo keys than hunting for them all over a keyboard.
